Training

The most critical step in creating tools that transform the way people work is to create tools that are usable, useful, and easier to use than existing alternatives. But just making them is not enough. We need to support their use and grow design thinking (Brown, 2008) across the organization. That means we need to train and mentor. To do that, we have put together a curriculum for our IT organization that raises the design-thinking IQ of the entire organization. In addition we are engaging senior management support to grow the UX expertise of a subset of their project managers, developers, and testers. This combines courses my team created, those developed by the other IT UX team, and courses offered corporately. The curriculum is illustrated in Figure 5.8.
